Michael L. Glassman, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Michael L. Glassman is a plastic surgeon specializing in the face and eyelids, with dual training and expertise in plastic surgery and ophthalmology.

Selected in 2004 as one of “America’s Top Ophthalmologists, Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery”, Dr. Glassman is considered by many to be one of the best surgeons for eyelid lifts. His trademark procedures are lower eyelid lifts with no visible scars, and upper eyelid lifts that may include an actual gentle elevation of the eyelid itself to create a more natural and open appearance to the eye. This involves complex microsurgical technique that is not normally done by most plastic surgeons. Renowned by his peers for his surgical skill, knowledge of eyelid anatomy, and meticulous attention to detail, his approach is conservative and artful. Dr. Glassman’s philosophy does not seek to radically change facial appearance, but rather to impart a more natural, youthful look.

In addition to cosmetic surgery, botox, and laser resurfacing, conditions seen by Dr. Glassman include childhood and adult eyelid abnormalities (such as eyelid malpositions and cancer), lacrimal (tear system) disorders, orbital (the bony cavity surrounding the eye) tumors and disorders, as well as reconstructive surgery. As a plastic surgeon and an ophthalmologist, Dr. Glassman is uniquely qualified to perform such delicate and intricate plastic surgical procedures around the eye and provide any care that the eye itself may need.

Dr. Glassman has extensive experience in this specialized surgical field including the latest, advanced techniques in microsurgical, laser, cosmetic, tumor, and reconstructive surgery. The recipient of numerous awards and honors, Dr. Glassman is a noted national and international guest speaker. An author of numerous scientific articles and papers. Dr. Glassman has been extensively involved in resident education at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and faculty member of the NYU School of Medicine.

A former Olympic-class swimmer at the University of Florida, Dr. Glassman received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Florida. He served an Internship in Internal Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital and matriculated his ophthalmology residency, including a year as chief resident, at Sinai Hospital of Detroit. He then completed a two-year fellowship in Oculoplastic, Orbital and Reconstructive surgery at the prestigious Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.

A dedicated international medical volunteer and former Peace Corps physician, Dr. Glassman is board-certified and a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as well as the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Glassman is affiliated with Lenox Hill Hospital, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
